1. Name of the post: Scientist-B (Mechanical)

Salary: Level-10 in the pay Matrix as per 7th CPC
Age Limit:
- STs: 40 years
Education Qualification:
- Master’s Degree in Physics from a recognized University/ Institute; and
- One year of practical experience in the testing/ calibration of engineering materials/ products or in precision measurement/ metrology in a recognized Laboratory/ Institute.
OR - Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering/ Metallurgical Engineering from a recognized University or Institute; and
- Two years of practical experience in the testing/ calibration of engineering materials/ products or in precision measurements/ metrology in a recognized Laboratory/ Institute.
Desirable:
- Research and Development experience in testing of engineering materials and metrology/ calibration of instruments and machines.

- Assistant Professor or Lecturer in the concerned Speciality or Super-Speciality in a recognized teaching institution after obtaining the first Postgraduate degree.

Experience:
- Three years experience in handling various aspects of industrial safety in a factory, dock, ship, construction site or physical and chemical testing of textiles in an industrial concern or research laboratory or a technical institution or organization or in a government department dealing with the administration of Factories Act 1948 (63 of 1948) or the Dock Workers (Safety, Health & Welfare) Act 1986 (54 of 1986) or the Building and other construction workers (regulation of employment conditions of services) Act 1996 (27 of 1996).
Desirable:
- Master’s Degree in Engineering or Technology relevant to the essential qualification mentioned above from a recognized University or Institute.
- Master’s Degree or Post Graduate in Industrial Safety from a recognized university or Institute.
- Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Safety from a recognized University or Institute.
- Experience in planning, organizing, and coordinating research, education, and training activities pertaining to industrial safety, dock safety, and construction safety.
