UPSC Examination 2023: Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) invites online applications from intending eligible candidates for the combined competitive examination 2023 for recruitment to the Junior Time Scale of 51 Posts in Indian Economic Service and Indian Statistical Service which will be held by the Union Public Service Commission commencing from 23rd June 2023

1. Name of the Post: Indian Economic Service

No. of Posts: 18

Educational Qualification:

Candidate must have obtained a Post-Graduate Degree in Economics/Applied Economics/Business Economics/Econometrics from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other Educational Institutes established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or a Foreign University approved by the Central Government from time to time.

2. Name of the Post: Indian Statistical Service

No. of Posts: 33

Educational Qualification:

Candidate must have obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics as one of the subjects or a Master’s degree in Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other Educational Institutes established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or a Foreign University approved by the Central Government from time to time.

Age Limit as of 1st August 2023:

  • UR: 21-30 Years
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 21 – 33 Years
  • SC/ ST: 21 – 35 Years

Citizenship for UPSC Examination 2023:

A Candidate must be either:

  1. a citizen of India, or
  2. a subject of Nepal, or
  3. a subject of Bhutan, or
  4. a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
  5. a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania(formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India. Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (2), (3), (4), and (5) above shall be a person in whose favor a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.

NOTE: A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary may be admitted to the examination but the offer of appointment may be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him/her by the Government of India.

  • SC/ ST/ Female/ PWD: No Fee

How to Apply:

Candidates are required to apply online only by using the website https//www.upsconline.nic.in It is essential for the applicant to register himself/herself first at the One Time Registration (OTR) platform, available on the Commission’s website, and then proceed for filling up the online application for the examination. OTR has to be registered only once in a lifetime. This can be done anytime throughout the year. If the candidate is already registered, he/she can proceed straightway to filling up the online application for the examination

  • Starting Date for Submission of Online Application: 19th April 2023
  • Last Date for Submission of Online Application: 09th May 2023 till 18.00 Hours.
