
CBSE CTET EXAM 2023: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is conducting the 17th edition of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) in CBT (Computer Based Test – Online) mode. Aspiring candidates have to apply online.

Validity Period of CTET Certificate: The Validity Period of the CTET qualifying certificate for appointment will be for a lifetime for all categories.
Note: There is no restriction on the number of attempts a person can take to acquire a CTET Certificate. A person who has qualified for CTET may also appear again to improve his/her score.
Eligibility Criteria for CBSE CTET EXAM 2023:
The minimum qualifications for appearing in the CTET are as notified by NCTE. The candidates are advised to visit the website of NCTE https://ncte.gov.in to ascertain their eligibility.
The minimum qualifications for the teaching staff should be in accordance with the following:
- National Council for Teacher Education (Determination of Minimum Qualifications for Personstoberecruited as Education Teachers and Physical Education Teachers in Pre-Primary, Primary, UpperPrimary, Secondary, Senior Secondary or Intermediate Schools or Colleges) Regulations as amended and notified from time to time.
- Minimum qualifications laid down in the Recruitment Rules for the teachers by the Appropriate Government where the school is situated or the Recruitment Rules for the teachers of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangthan or Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti.
- The candidate should satisfy his/her eligibility before applying and shall be personally responsible in case he/she is not eligible to apply as per the given eligibility criteria. It is to be noted that if a candidate has been allowed to appear in the Central Teacher Eligibility Test it does not imply that the candidate’s eligibility has been verified. It does not vest any right with the candidate for appointment. The eligibility shall be finally verified, by the concerned recruiting agency / appointing authority.
Note: As notified by NCTE, relaxation of up to 5% in the qualifying marks in the minimum educational Qualification for eligibility shall be allowed to the candidates belonging to reserved categories, such as SC/ST/ OBC/Differently-abled.
There will be two papers on CTET.
- Paper I will be for a person who intends to be a teacher for classes I to V.
- Paper II will be for a person who intends to be a teacher for classes VI to VIII.
Eligibility for CTET Paper-I (Primary Stage) Classes I-V:
- A candidate must have passed class 12th with at least 50% marks and must have passed or must be appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education
OR - Passed class 12th with at least 50% marks and must have passed or appeared in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education, in accordance with NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002.
OR - At least 50% marks in class 12th and must have passed or must be appearing in the last year of a 4-year Bachelor’s in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.)
OR - 50% marks in class 12th and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year diploma in education (Special Education)
OR - Graduation with 50% marks or more and a Bachelor’s in Education (B.Ed.) degree.
Eligibility for CTET Paper-2 (Elementary Stage) Classes VI-VIII:
- As part of CTET eligibility criteria 2023, candidates must have completed graduation in any discipline and the candidate must have passed or must be appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education
OR - 50% marks in graduation and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. course
OR - At least 45% marks in graduation and passed or appearing in 1 year B.Ed. in accordance with NCTE Regulations issued from time to time in this regard.
OR - At least 50% marks in class 12th and passed or appearing in the final year of a 4-year B.El.Ed.
OR - 50% marks or more in class 12th and passed or appearing in the final year of B.A./ B.Sc.Ed. or B.A.Ed./ B.Sc.Ed
OR - At least 50% marks in graduation (BA, B.Com, B.Sc, BBA, BCA, B.Tech) and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education).
OR - Any candidate who has qualified for a B.Ed. the programme recognised by NCTE is eligible to appear for the exam. Moreover, anybody who’s pursuing a teachers’ education programme that is NCTE-recognised can appear for the CTET exam.

How to apply for CBSE CTET EXAM 2023?
Candidates are required to apply for CTET 2023 through the “Online” mode only on the website https://ctet.nic.in/ or can directly “Apply Online” from the link below. The Application Form in any other mode will not be accepted.
